Call us crazy, but we totally think dogs deserve their own trick-or-treat bag full of goodies. After all, they have to watch us binge on Reese’s peanut butter cups and fun-size Snickers bars every Halloween, so it’s only fair. (We’d share our Halloween treats if we could, but chocolate and other candies are big ol’ no-no for our furry friends.)
So, we did what any #extra dog parent would do and stuffed a tote bag with yummy Halloween dog treats and a few other festive items to get them into the spirit of the season. Think your pup would drool over their own trick-or-treat bag? (That’s a trick question—of course they would!). Then here’s what to get your furry ghoul or goblin. (Just don’t let them pig out on it all at once!)
1. The Lazy Dog Cookie Co. Muttster Mash Pup-PIE Dog Treat
Impress all the pups (and their parents) at your Halloween party with this pie-inspired dog “dessert” that looks like you spent hours in the kitchen baking. It’s made with seasonal ingredients such as pumpkin and cinnamon, and is free of wheat, corn, soy and dairy. Serve up a slice to your lil’ mutt-ster and their whole boo crew.
2. Frisco Halloween Donuts Plush Squeaky Dog Toy
While not an edible treat, these Halloween-themed donut dog toys remind us of the real deal (and are much safer to give to your dog!). They come in a three-pack, each with a squeaker inside to encourage your pup to play. Toss one to your dog when trick-or-treaters come to the door to keep them occupied and out of trouble.
3. Old Mother Hubbard Halloween Creepy Crunchers P-Nuttier Dog Biscuits
If peanut butter is your dog’s favorite snack, then these peanut butter biscuits are sure to appeal to their treat tooth. They’re made with real peanut butter and cane molasses and then oven-baked to preserve the natural flavors and add that craveable crunch.
4. Zesty Paws Hemp Elements Calming OraStix Peppermint Flavored Soft Dog Chews
All Hallows’ Eve can truly be frightening for your dog. With all the doorbell ringing, costumed strangers lurking around and the loud screams and other sounds that go bump in the night, it’s no wonder why this may be a stressful time for your pet. These chews are formulated with ingredients, like melatonin and chamomile, to help scaredy dogs stay calm.
5. Pixar Coco Remember Me Dog & Cat Bandana
Bring on the magic with this pet bandana inspired by the Disney/Pixar movie “Coco,” which follows a boy’s journey to the Land of the Dead. Available in XS/S and M/L, the bandana features colorful characters and artwork and is perfect for pets who don’t do full-on costumes. Slip it on and snap a few pix for a Halloween to remember.
Starts at $7.19
6. Nite Ize NiteHowl LED Safety Necklace Dog Collar
Taking your pooch out trick-or-treating? Keep them safe with this light-up collar. Made from a flexible polymer tube and LED lights, it comes in multiple colors (opt for orange for a seasonal touch) and one universal size (you can cut it to fit your pet’s neck). With a battery-run time of 60 hours, it’ll last well beyond spooky season.
7. Blue Buffalo Boo Bits Tasty Chicken Recipe Dog Treats
These soft Halloween dog treats are scary cute! The spooky shapes, including a pumpkin, bat and ghost, make for a very fun and festive snack. And with wholesome ingredients, like real chicken, brown rice and oatmeal, they’re nutritious to boo-t.
8. Greenies Pumpkin Spice Flavor Dog Dental Chews
No one wants to be that house that hands out toothbrushes, but as pet parents, we understand the importance of dental health. These dental chews freshen breath and help fight plaque and tartar. Plus, they come in a wag-worthy pumpkin spice flavor that dogs love. A dental aid dressed as a treat? That’s a neat trick.
